How Do I Get An Application?
On September 1, 2008 you can download an application on our website. You can also contact Tina at Midwest CCR&R at tinap5@willmarnet.com or (800)292-5437 to have an application mailed or emailed to you.

What Is The Deadline For Submitting My Application?
All applications must be postmarked on or before September 25, 2008.

How Often Can I Apply For A Grant?
You are eligible to apply once every year.

Wish List
Use this "wish list" as a tool to think about and keep track of items you would like to add to your program by applying for a grant.
> Download and print the wish list
The wish list is also available in Microsoft Word format. Contact midwestccrr@willmarnet.com to have it emailed to you.
Grants for non-direct care will no longer be available as a result of a recent DHS policy change. Grants will only be available to child care providers who provide direct child care.

What Kinds Of Things Should I NOT Apply For?
Family child care providers cannot receive funds for a new addition to your home or for cosmetic home improvements. Your request must be directly related to the safety and quality of your child care services. Child care centers cannot apply for construction or major renovations. Grant dollars may not be used for religious-based curricula or counseling.

If I Am Awarded A Grant, How Will I Receive The Money?
All grants are paid on a reimbursement basis. You will reimbursed only for purchases made after the date of the award letter.

Do I Have To Pay The Money Back?
These are grants, not loans. You will not be required to pay the money back UNLESS you are out of compliance with the grant requirements, or you give up or lose your Minnesota child care license for any reason within two years from the date of your award letter.

If I Receive A Grant, Are There Any Requirements That I Have To Meet?
Yes. You will be required to complete a certain amount of training.
> View the training requirements

How Is It Determined Whether Or Not I Will Receive Funding?
After you submit your application to Midwest CCR&R, it will be reviewed to see if it is complete and includes all of the required attachments. If your application is not complete, it will not be considered for funding. Your current licensing status will be verified. If your license is in good standing, it will be forwarded to the Regional Grants Advisory Committee. They will score your application and determine whether or not the application will be funded, as well as the amount of funding. Due to limited resources, your application may only receive partial funding. You will be notified by mail during the first week of November 2008.

Grant Workshops
Whether or not you have applied for a grant in the past, we encourage everyone to attend one of the FREE grant writing workshops below. You will learn about changes that the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has made to the application forms, see what the new applications look like, and learn how to to fill them out. You will also learn about changes that DHS has made to the training plan form and how it is submitted.

The workshop you attend does not have to be in the same county you live in. Workshops are open to both family child care providers and child care centers. This is an informational workshop to assist with the grant writing process, no training hours or certificates are given.

To register for one of these free workshops, call our toll free training registration line at 1-877-311-2244.
